For more than 20 years, Catholic Legal Services has lived by its core mission to care for our staff, the agency, our clients and the
community. This enduring mission guides us as we face the difficult challenge of responding to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), which
the World Health Organization declared a pandemic on Wednesday, March 12, 2020.
Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We will remain fully operational during this time. However, we believe it is crucial to listen to the advice of our Public Health officials. Our staff will be working remotely, and we have restricted access to face-to-face meetings. Therefore, we are implementing the following policies to take precautions ensuring the safety and health of our staff, the agency, our clients and the community. ABOUT US Founded in 1998, Catholic Legal Services, Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. (CLS) provides professional immigration services to the South Florida's refugee and immigrant community, particularly to low-income clients. Services include filing documents as well as providing attorney representation before immigration authorities including the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO), and Florida Dependency Court. Throughout the years we have served thousands and thousands of clients helping them with a variety of immigration issues including obtaining employment authorization, adjusting their legal status, procuring asylum, becoming a U.S. citizen, petitioning family members, etc. Most of these services are provided free of charge for qualifying clients or for a nominal fee to those who do not quality. Oftentimes, we are able to help clients in their native language including Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Portuguese, and Italian. Our clients include newcomers, detained individuals, victims of domestic violence, human trafficking survivors, individuals without legal status, people with criminal histories, juveniles, individual with physical/mental disabilities, torture survivors, and others. We serve clients without reference to their race, religion, gender, ethnic group, or other distinguishing characteristics. OUR MISSION Our mission is to provide: 1. Legal representation and immigration services to those who come to South Florida from foreign lands. OUR FOCUS Catholic Legal Services, Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. (CLS) focuses exclusively on helping poor immigrants obtain asylum, establish legal residency, become citizens and reunite families.CLS’ multicultural, multilingual staff help people from more than 80 different nations. As a provider of legal assistance and representation for immigrants, refugees, and impoverished people in the Archdiocese of Miami, CLS provides a full range of immigration-related legal services, from initial advice, to assistance, to full representation, to a low-income clientele.
